El quijotesco Terry Gillian, que tiene aspecto de Sancho Panza, se propuso hace años (lo recuerda ahora en los títulos de crédito iniciales) hacer esta película. El actor que hacía de don Quijote (Jean Rochefort) enfermó, llovió a cántaros, diluvió durante el rodaje (también alude a eso), pasaban aviones norteamericanos por el cielo, Johnny Depp, que hacía de Sancho (sí, se lo pueden creer)...
